Born in 1909 near Gorizia, 1920 moved to Carinthia, where his father got a job as a teacher.
1930-34 Art studies in Zagreb (Croatia). Afterwards he worked as a freelance artist, with longer stays in Spain and Dalmatia.
He then settled in Venice, which became his real home. After the Second World War, the end of which he experienced in the Dachau concentration camp, Paris was added as his second preferred place of residence.
Several participations in the Venice Biennale, 1955 also at the „documenta I“ in Kassel, numerous international awards.
Its themes are barren landscapes of Dalmatia and Italy, and as urban contrast views of Venice and Paris. In between portraits, scenes from the everyday life of farmers and fishermen – increasingly abstract and in the form of print.
A special artistic achievement are his memories of Dachau, which he processed in the impressive series „We are not the last“.

Peter Handke, this year’s Nobel Prize winner of literature and Zoran Music combines many things.
Handke is from Griffen in Carinthia, where Zoran Music attended school in 1918 & 1919. Both have found their second home in Paris and the surrounding area. Both enjoy international artistic recognition.
In 1981 Peter Handke wrote the text for this print portfolio „6 Views of the Canale della Giudecca“ which is available in our gallery Magnet.
